Hand Sign and Call
Lambda Theta Alpha has a hand sign and call that is significant to our sisters. It is a privilege that only sisters have to display. Holding the hand sign and using the call signifies one's membership in our organization and the pride behind our letters. The hand sign is a symbol of the Greek letter "lambda" per our organziation. Another symbol is "one" to represent being the FIRST Latin Sorortiy in the nation.
Saluting
Saluting is an important tradition in Lambda Theta Alpha because it serves as a form of respect, unity, and empowerment within the sisterhood. The act of saluting allows us to honor our chapter, sisters, and the organization’s history while reflecting the values of strength and leadership. It is often performed at formal events or ceremonies, and it helps reinforce bonds among members by celebrating shared identity, heritage, and pride in the sorority. Saluting also serves to distinguish Lambda Theta Alpha from other organizations, creating a unique and meaningful ritual within our sisterhood.
Strolling
Strolling is another important tradition in Lambda Theta Alpha that symbolizes unity, sisterhood, and cultural pride. Strolling is a synchronized, rhythmic dance often performed in a line or circle, typically at social events or competitions. For Lambda Theta Alpha, strolling serves as a way to represent the strength and solidarity of the sisterhood, showcasing unity and pride in our organization. It’s a public display of the bonds that unite our members, reflecting our shared values and cultural heritage. Often there are chapter strolls that are passed down as tradition. These are unique to each chapter.
